I love Christmas!! We did our yearly tradition of church on Christmas Eve followed by food, drinks and presents with the Perkins side of the fam at the Farm. We did Christmas morning just the three of us at home (Santa came!) and then head over to the Hempen house for some more presents and breakfast :) What a great Christmas!! I really wanted to try to get some family pictures before the year ended (I want to make it a family tradition) so I asked Genna to come over and take pics of us! Thanks Genna! Even though we didn't get the "perfect" picture, I think a lot of them are awesome :)
We had a lot of fun family bowling! It was Dylan's first time and I think he really enjoyed it! He ran around yelling "ball". The second game got a little weird haha. Dylan loves rolling "dough" and saying it too - so cute! He also still loves reading and is very empathetic when characters in a book are sad :) A few fun pictures from December. I'm loving the time off work to hangout with Dylan & work on our cooking skills :)
On December 14th I did the Rudolph Ramble 8k in Chicago (that's about 5 miles). I ran it with Eric, Jenie & Brock (Sammi was our cheerleader and photographer - thanks Sammi)! It was fun, I had a great race!
We had a lot of fun going into the city a few times this month. We all went to see the Lincoln Park Zoo lights (it was so warm out) and Dylan also went into the city with Genna, Sammi and Grandma to Christkindlmarket. He sure loves the city :)
Dylan got to spend the day with Grandpa while we were at work and he had a blast! The whole fam did the McHenry Turkey Trot for Hospice 5k on Thanksgiving morning bright and early! Pretty difficult after the night out before!! :) We had a lot of fun making ridiculously adorable turkey shirts & running together! Dylan got reaaaally cold so him and Drew didn't actually do the race but they waited for us in the warm van :) My Mom got 2nd place in her age group and I got 2nd place in my age group too! It was a blast - can't wait to do it again next year! Then we went to the Farm for Thanksgiving and helped Grandpa set up his tree! Amy & I did our first 10k TRAIL run the weekend before Thanksgiving! We had a little too much fun celebrating but we did pretty well! We finished right around 60 mins and placed 4th and 5th in our age groups! It was freeeZIng but fun!
Dylan had a fun trip to Carlyle with Grandma & Grandpa to visit everyone! He got to see his Great Gma Jo, all his great aunts & uncles and some second cousins! :) |
